Historical note: Thomas Durston came from Devon County Eng. with the Trelawney party which settled at Cape Elizabeth and Black Point (now Maine). He was here in July 1632 (see Trelawney Papers) but evidently returned to England before 1635 and came out again in 1639 as he was here in 1640. ["He received a grant of 20 acres of land on Jun 19 1654 reaching from Crooked Lane to Spruce Creek. He signed the Dover Combination in 1640. In Nov.1652 his name was 12th in the list appended to the following: "We whose names are written under do acknowledge ourselves subject to the government of Massachusetts Bay."] Quotes taken from "Old Kittery" p.79 p.142-147; Haverhill Towns Records Vol.ll p.51 and p.368.

Historical note: Thomas Duston b.1652 served in King Phillip's War in Lt. Benjamin Sweet's company Aug 24 1767 (N.E. Reg. 43 p.98 & 275). Freeman at Haverhill Nov 28 1677 (N.E. Reg Vol 6 p.203). On the York county (Maine) Probate records June 8 1703 (N.E. Reg. Vol 31 p.221)"Administration granted to Thomas Duston of Haverhill on the estate of his father Thomas Duston of Kittery deceased intestate."

Historical Note: Hannah Emerson Dustin has a statue erected in the center of Haverhill, MA for the extensive ordeal she endured when captured by Indians, killed 1 week old Martha, and took her and others just north of Concord NH. They killed the Indians and escaped down the river to Hudson, NH.

Historical Note: James Dustin b.Jun 28 1734 Haverhill, MA. He lived in Haverhill until Mar 16 1756 when he bought of his brother Paul 30 acres in Hampstead where he lived until 1760 when he sold his land and moved with his wife and 2 children to Plaistow. In 1763 he moved to Salem with 3 children. In 1765 they are recorded as moving from Marlboro to Plaistow. In 1754 James was in a company of scouts under Capt John Webster; In 1758 he was in Capt. Hazen's company for the relief of Fort Ticonderoga. He signed the Association test 1776 at Henniker NH. From Jul 22 to Sep 17 1777 he was in Capt Joshua Bayley's company Col. Stickney's Regiment of Starks Brigade and marched from Hopkinton. He may have later moved to Enfield NH.

Historical Note: Ebenezer Dustin b. 1760 probably in Plaistow, NH. He was a recruit in the Continental Regiments on Jun 20 1780 at age of 20 and served until Dec 4 1781.

Historical Note: Eben H. Dustin b. Dec 13 1811 in Hopkinton NH. Was a soldier in Company D 16th Regiment New Hampshire Volunteers. Was captured and imprisoned in Libby Prison Baton Rouge LA where he died May 6 1863.
