Locke Family Outline in England
Tradition considers the name of LOCKE to be of Scotch extraction,
originally spelled LOCH, but if so it must have been in very early time.
In 880 when Alfred I divided England into parishes, there was known of a
great man named LOCKE and the town Lockestown (now spelled Loxton) named
after him, and the parish of Locking. These lie southwest of Bristol in
Somerset.
